About
Hi, I'm Tara Palmer, founder of Sophisticated Sidekick.
I've always been the person who looks at a complicated situation and starts figuring out how to make it work. A move with too many moving parts. A home that isn't functioning the way it should. A project nobody has time to manage. A task that needs research, decisions, and follow-through, not just another line on a list. I'm good at seeing what needs to happen, building a practical plan, and helping get it done.
My background brings together the skills this work requires: counseling, HR, executive and operations support, office management, and senior move management. I hold master's degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and Health Education, and I'm the author of Don't Leave a Mess: A Guide to Getting Your Affairs in Order (so your loved ones don't have to).
But Sophisticated Sidekick also grew out of something simpler than any of that: this is just how I think. I notice inefficiencies. I see the missing step. I ask, "Why are we doing it this way?" I research, organize, solve problems, and keep things moving.
I once worked with a client who was combining two households while settling into a new home with a new baby. Everyone was focused on the boxes. I focused on how the home actually needed to work. In the kitchen, the cooking utensils had been put in the pantry, nowhere near the stove. She didn't need things simply unpacked. She needed the kitchen set up around how she would actually use it.
These projects are rarely just about stuff and to-do lists. Moves, transitions, and unfinished projects come with decisions, stress, family dynamics, and limited time. Sometimes you need hands-on help. Sometimes you need someone to build the plan. Often, you need both.
That's what Sophisticated Sidekick is for. You tell me what's going on — we figure out what needs to happen next.
